Better Living Through Better Eggs

Eggs are notoriously difficult to boil well. Most people achieve a consistency not quite to their liking. The yolk ends up being slightly too hard, the white just a little too slimy, the shell impossible to peel. The last thing you want to worry about when you’re rushing off to school or work is the quality of your breakfast, and I have just the solution. From scouring the internet as well as from my own life experiences, I’ve compiled an (almost) foolproof recipe to ensure perfectly cooked eggs everytime.

  • One egg (obviously)

Step 1:

Fill a saucepan with water so it covers the egg by atleast 3cm.

Step 2:

Bring the water to a high boil and slowly lower in the egg using a ladle or other cooking utensil.

Step 3:

Set a timer depending on the consistency you would like your egg yolk to be, and prepare a bowl containing ice and water.

→ Runny yolks: 6 minutes

→ Soft boiled (jammy yolks): 8 minutes

→ Hard boiled: 10 minutes

Step 4:

Take out the egg, and place it directly into the ice bath.

Step 5:

Peel and enjoy!
