Move Over Women, Make Room For Men

This March, in 2026, Men are finally getting a month devoted to their contributions to society. This marks a quarter of a millennia after the inception of the United States, when the Declaration of Independence freed and gave equal rights to Men for the first time. It’s about time Men got their turn in the spotlight to celebrate their often-overlooked accomplishments.

People rarely acknowledge that the first president of the United States, George Washington, was a man. In fact, every president of the United States has been a man. This country has long overlooked the critical role Men play in government. After all, they weren’t called the founding mothers, were they?

Men also played a role in making change for thousands of years before the founding of America. Jesus Christ, the Son of God, is often forgotten as an incredibly influential man in history. You may not have known that the entire religion of Christianity actually owes its roots to him.

The common man’s contributions have also gone unrecognized. For instance, throughout pregnancy, specifically during labor, Men are cut out of the picture. While the mother gets a comfortable hospital bed and doctors and nurses that attend to her every need, the father is often neglected and left to sleep uncomfortably in a chair or a very small couch. Every forgotten father is a hero to be remembered this March for Men’s History Month.

Even from a biological standpoint, Men have been set up to be oppressed and disenfranchised. Men have a known “weak spot” located in the groin that women have exploited for years to dominate and control them.

Popular culture has turned this painful experience into a joke, profiting off of Men’s weakness for decades. The general public has become so desensitized to the suffering that now most deem it appropriate for young children. Why are we teaching tomorrow’s sons that they are nothing more than punching bags for entertainment?

The insidious oppression goes even deeper. The word “nuts” is often used when describing someone or something as crazy, to the point of being ridiculous. When someone is called “nuts,” their opinion and thoughts are dismissed and considered invalid, implying that Men are crazy, and should be put down. Systematically, the English language subtly controls thoughts and feelings about Men to invalidate them and dismiss them as unimportant.

With Men’s history month here at last, we can begin equal treatment of Men who have been deprived of respect for so long. This March will be known as Men’s March! Women’s History Month will henceforth be delayed until April.
