This past month, the Tech community was saddened by the loss of government teacher Humberto Cruz. Several memorials were set up in his honor. In other news, OUSD selected a new superintendent, Tech students organized a coding workshop called OHacks, and a Tech student was crowned the 2017 Youth Poet Laureate of Oakland.
NOTE: The California Department of Education reversed its decision to withhold after school funding the day before this issue was released. Tech’s after school programs will now receive the grant they depend on, so the headline article is no longer accurate.
