“Everything will work out exactly as it’s supposed to. Get yourself involved in clubs. Hang around the smart people. Try new things, but never bite off more than you can chew.”
This is what you hear from adults. I have real advice.
- Pack lunch from home because sophomore year, the lady at Bluebottle knew my name
- Keep deodorant, gum, and Zyrtec in your bag at all times
- Actually read the books in English – Lit Charts and Sparknotes will never cut it and you’ll have no critical thinking skills
- Take hard classes for your work ethic, not because you love Walt Whitman (nobody does).
- Keep a journal, and be honest with yourself
- Get a hot link sandwich from Prima
- Say thank you to your teachers every time you leave class
- If there’s one class you should take at this school, it is AP US History with Ms. Haugen. Yes, you need to read textbooks front to back – it’s not that deep, get over yourself
- It’s okay to eat lunch alone
- DON’T GO TO THE BONFIRES, and don’t even think about jumping over them
- If you think you’re depressed, go to Marshalls after school with a friend
- For the love of god, please dress according to the weather forecast
- You should absolutely not skip a day of school unless you are enrolled in at least two AP classes – anything before that is just bummy
- Do the dual enrollments!!! Sign up with your friends and do it both semesters. You won’t regret the grade boost.
- Stop listening to Love Sosa and start listening to Cupcake No Fillin
- If you hear someone crying in the bathroom, ask if they’re okay and if there’s someone you can call
- If you’re a passenger princess you should buying their food
- Facial piercings are not meant for everyone. This doesn’t mean you should get your belly done. You are not allowed to wear pyjama pants to school. Don’t drag your uggs and don’t wear them when it’s raining
- A good partner should be good to you and good for you
- Get off of Tik Tok and watch a movie, preferably with your mom
- You’re not as behind as you think, and you’re not as left out as you think
