Coraline’s Whismigoth Fest at Manic Pixie Dream Market, November 11, 11 am – 5 pm
The Manic Pixie Dream Market is a recurring, inclusive pop-up flea market and bazaar specifically curated for the “girls, gays, and theys” community, but welcomes all. Each Market is themed, with previous markets being “Monster High” and “Twilight” themed. Wrapping up the spooky season, they have brought on “Coraline,” a thriller stop motion film to be their muse. There’s art, food, clothes, and so much more, so head on down to the Manic Pixie Dream Market!
“Tartuffe: Born Again” at Oakland Technical High School, November 12-14
Oak Tech Repertory Theatre is putting on their annual fall play, and this year it is “Tartuffe: Born Again,” a modern adaptation by Freyda Thomas of French playwright Moliere’s Comedy, “Tartuffe.” The show is about a televangelist con man (Tartuffe) who fools wealthy family man Orgon, and wreaks havoc in his home. There are two casts that switch off night by night including an early show on the 14 at 2:00 pm and the rest of the shows being at 7:00 pm. Go see the show and support young creatives, but watch out, you may end up being “Tartuffe-ilated.”
Full Moon Candle-Making Workshop at Waveform Ceramics, November 17, 6:00 pm – 7:30 pm
Need some new scents to bring in the fall atmosphere into your home? Waveform Ceramics in Berkeley is holding a candle making workshop where you can make two candles and learn about the science, scents, and spirituality. If you like to get crafty and create things you can use on your day-to-day, this may be the workshop for you!
Oakland Turkey Trot Run at Lake Merritt, November 26
Oakland’s 10th annual Turkey Trot race returns this year on Thanksgiving morning, bringing together the community to engage in fitness before scarfing down endless plates of food in the following hours. There is a 10k which begins at 8:15 pm, a 5k which begins at 8:15 am, and a Kids race at 9:00 am. Not really into running? You can still give back by volunteering, find more info at oaklandturkeytrot.org.
If none of these interest you, there will always be a pile of leaves to jump into. But make the most of this fall while it is still here!
